This has been sitting half-finished for a while in one of my files. XP School has been absolute murder on all my creatives (last semester before I hopefully graduate + taking that one shitty unhelpful required class to graduate that's damn near impossible to pass because the professor is inept = stress stress stress! :iconimhappierplz: ) And also for whatever reason dA's been reducing my poor brain-dead university internet connection to uselessness in the past month-and-a-half or so. As long as like, half of all other websites. |'D God knows why. But here it is, at long last. XD

Rules:

1. Post These rules.

2. Post. 8 facts about your Character.

3. Tag 8 other people along with the characters you want them to write about (which leads to rule 4) Nah bruh. XD Unless you want to, then feel free!

I was tagged to write a bit about my boi Smaug by :icondevinital: ^^ And also my boi Berlioz, by :icongeneralwildfire: :dummy:

Facts about Smaug

1. Smaug, true to his namesake, likes sleeping on as much shiny, at-least-moderately-valuable material as he can gather. Gold and treasure is great, but y’know. Regular metal and stuff will work too. You sure you don’t have any gold, though?

2. Smaug squabbles frequently with other members of the Menagerie frequently over the custody of their own personal treasure hoard. Half due to the above, half due to…well, he wants it. Frequent opponents include Chrysophylax the Shelldragon - who does not appreciate seeing all those lovely Arkenstones Sunset Orbs in the possession of someone not himself - and Jenara, both when she was a Humbug and now that she has become a Daemon as well.

3. Strangely enough, there are two Trolls in camp whose own personal stashes he will leave in peace, that being Aramis and Kaltori, the Shelldragons (though, perhaps it’s not so strange, considering the latter is his ‘stepmother.’ In any case, he’ll leave their things well enough alone, so long as ‘his’ own hoard is left in peace.

4. As a Mirror Beast, he was a blustery, imperious creature who came across as a bit of an asshole, but his bark was worse than his bite. At the end of the day, he was more like his father than he first looked. He still is, to a point, even if he still comes across as a great big rash asshole on first impression. |'D

5. One might initially question just how much of a relationship he has with the Autumn Daemon, Breaker. Being two equally-powerful Daemons with large and rather forceful personalities, they squabble and bicker often over trivial things, which occasionally escalates into outright physical fighting. And then you see the itty-bitty smirks on their faces after the squabbles are done, or the two of them settled in a quiet, contemplative moment together afterwards, or teaming up to violently turn back threats to the camp, and those claims become just a smidgen less dubious.

6. Breaker tries to keep their mischief-making, pyrokinetics-inclined kids out of trouble, at least within the confines of the camp. Smaug, on the other hand, not only encourages them on the sly but occasionally actively joins them in their hijinks. When they’re not trying to blow shit up like a bunch of explosives-happy Mythbusters, they’re all snoozing in a big pile. On gold, of course. And probably hiding from Breaker. Which cues a great big “WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS?” on the other side of camp.

7. While Glaurung and Maegor are most like him in temperament, he has something of a soft spot for Aerion, as much of a little brat as she can be.

8. I haven’t quite settled on a voice for him, but I imagine he has a deep, kind of gruff voice. The closest I’ve gotten is John Rhys-Davies, somewhere between Gimli and Treebeard. XD

Facts about Berlioz

1. Berlioz is acutely aware of his own body language and vocal tone in any given situation, and uses these to the best of his ability to try and project whatever mood/persona required for the moment; mostly, this is used to project friendliness and nonaggression in order to defuse tension and make friends/allies, but he’s got a mean game face he pulls out if the situation requires him to be intimidating.

2. Part of the above stems from observing his father and taking lessons from Erik in acting. He always enjoyed watching his father give impromptu lessons on how to best project yourself into the mind of a character, and how you can use a lot more than just your lines; you can use your whole posture and your movements to sell that character to your audience. He has simply applied that to a much wider audience, so to speak.

3. Although he often finds himself playing the “straight man” to Erik’s oft-tricksterish chaos and feigns exasperation with his playfully-annoying antics, he loves his father dearly, and is quick to defend him in situations where he’s in actual danger.

4. Berlioz was an extraordinarily shy child, and his current personality came about as a result of the desire to be liked by those around him. While it wasn’t entirely fabricated, he had to force the confidence to mirror the personality that he felt would get him through possible tense situations unscathed, and foster positive feelings towards him. Over time, though, the confidence formerly forced became less and less so, and he gained the courage to reach out more and more in a “good feels good” sort of way.

5. The circumstances surrounding Elpis, Smaug, and Hecates’ births are not quite 100% known by the Menagerie. What is known, however, is that he was not romantically involved with the mothers (though he remained more-or-less cordial towards their respective parents’ and doted on his kids). But he never gave up hope that he would run across Kaltori again - even if his morale began to suffer from it - and kept up his search whenever and wherever he could.

6. At first glance, there might be a lot of trolls who would assume Andromeda and Berlioz are a couple. Despite remaining close friends, they are both quick to correct these assumptions, considering they both have baes of their own. Humorously enough I did, in fact, toy with the idea of making them a couple at one point because I liked their dynamic together. However, then Berltori happened, and I fell in love with that ship instead. >v>

7. I never quite knew why, but whenever I tried to pick a theme song for him I always kind of got an Owl City vibe off him. Again, not sure why. XD

8. His voice actor is Arthur Darvill (voice of Rory in Doctor Who), for a multitude of reasons - both because it matches Andromeda’s voice actor of Karen Gillan, and also because he has (imo) a lovely singing voice as well. >v> Demonstrated here: [link]

If you guys want to know more about my characters, just hit me up at some point. XD I do love talking about them, even if I'm a slowass loon who might take a hot sec to reply.

"It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo, the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going because they were holding on to something. ...That there is some good in this world. And it's worth fighting for."
